Itinerary description
We started this hike from Boplaas in Gamkaskloof. Accommodation must be arranged at Boplaas from where this hike starts. Currently the road down to Gamkaskloof from the Swartberg pass is in a very poor condition due to heavy rain damage. Parts of the pass are washed away and 4x4 vehicles with high clearance is recommended only. It took us 4 hours from the top of Swartberg Pass to reach Fontein Guest Farm where we had lunch before continuiung to Boplaas. The Oshoeksgangriver trail is an offtrail experience with no trail. We followed the river and bundu bashed our way through thick rivine bush, but kept mainly in the river for long periods. The scenery is spectacular and thoroughly serene. It's an adventure for the tough guy.
