Route from the Onetangi Bay to the viewpoint of the Rocky Bay, passing through the Waiheke Island Aerodrome and several vineyards on the way, and the Anzac Bay on the way back.
The route begins at the Onetangi Bay, and a piece of the beach is rescinded until you reach the turnoff towards the main road. Following it only 500 meters away, a new detour is immediately taken towards the Onetangi Reserve, which is bordered below to then head south to the island. By taking a bit of height, the first views of the Rocky Bay and the Anzac Bay, which are found in the south, on the opposite side of the Onetangi Bay, which is to the north, is where it has been begun In fact, part of the route coincides with the Coast to Coast Track (Te Ara Hura), which passes through vineyards and also on the side of the Waiheke Island Aerodrome. In this point we have seen what looked like a weka, an endemic non-flying bird of New Zealand, which is considered a vulnerable species. After enjoying the vineyards, the trees and the meadows, and without much snooping the imminent autumn, the track becomes again at the point where it is possible to observe, in the distance, the Rocky Bay. A kilometer later, finally, you reach the viewpoint of the Rocky Bay.
On the way back, you have followed the same track until you reach Anzac Bay, from where you have taken the main road (Onetangi Road) in the north direction to get back to the Onetangi Bay, point of exit of this route.
It is a very simple route, well signposted in sections that do not follow the road, which allows you to contemplate the magnificent landscape of the interior of the Waiheke Island, such as vineyards.
