Itinerary description
One great day trip to the summit of St Catherine which hiked with a local Bedouin guide. It was not possible in December 2020 to do it by oneself due to security reasons, some paths seem to be forbidden, controled by soldiers and it seems that it is required to have a guide by the public authorities.
Besides this, attention, this hike is totally out of any path on the map, you don’t have signs and i wouldn’t dare to follow this trace as it’s quite tricky to identify a way.
It was hiked at the end of December. It was warm (15/20 degrees) during the day at the sun but colder the morning or when windy. I personally took the different traditional layers which were useful.
I left from the city of St Catherine at 8:00.
We were around 12:00 at the top. We stay nearly an hour for lunch. The spot is good for lunch and camping.
We arrived back in st Catherine city at 17:30.
It is really worth !! I had a great day.

Hello, how did you get a guide? This mountain is not as busy as Sinai mountain? Thanks
Not busy indeed. I stayed at the hostel and I asked the owner. You need to ask locals and they will relate you with one guide
Thanks
