Itinerary description
Scheveningen is a wonderful walk along beautiful old buildings and of course the boulevard. On the north side of this seaside resort you will pass through Meijendel, a wonderfully quiet dune area.
Scheveningen Pier
Scheveningen is a great base for exploring the Dutch coast. From here you can easily walk onto the famous boulevard. You look out over the beach, on the right are some sights, such as the Beelden aan Zee museum and the Kurhaus. Further on is the Scheveningse Pier from 1961, its predecessor dated from 1901. You can get a breath of fresh air on the beach, and in good weather you can take a dip.
Meijendel
Meijendel is a varied nature reserve. Close to the sea you will see a low vegetation of dewberry, moss and sometimes dune rose. The prevailing southwest wind created parabolic dunes with horseshoe-like shapes, beautiful! Now and then you hear the melodic song of birds like the nightingale. More to the east you walk into the woods, where oaks, hawthorns and honeysuckle grow. It is wonderful to walk in the lee here!
