Itinerary description
A nice trail that starts at a bird sanctuary near Hanalei and climbs up the ridgeline to give you nice views of the surrounding area. The trail is not well marked but it is well travelled and easy to follow. There are several nice view points with great views of the valleys to the east and west as well as several nice shots of Hanalei and the bay.
Most of the hike is either ascending or descending, good footwear is important. The trail can be anywhere from easy to virtually impassable depending on recent rainfall. There were definitely muddy spots on our hike, our legs were covered and we were really happy we had hiking poles.
We ran into quite a few hikers on the trail and enjoyed the trek and the views. I'd recommend it on a sunny day where you get the best traction and some sweet viewpoints.
