Itinerary description
To get to Okic, we took a bus Samobor - Terihaji, got off at the Naglici station, walked the road through the village to Stef's mountain hut under Okic.
There are two marked paths from Okic to Plesivica peak (779m). We decided to try the harder way up - from Okic to Novo Selo Okicko and then over Popovdolska pecina, over Zub rock and up-and-down over peaks to get to Plesivica summit. The trail to Novo Selo was muddy and slippery but since it's mostly downhill we just traveled a bit faster:).
At first we thought we'd climb on Popovdolska pecina on the short trail. Since it was snowcovered and almost vertical, we dropped the idea and went the easy way:). It just goes around the peak and when we got up on the ridge, there were a couple hundred meters backtrailing to get to the peak. There's a metal stamp in the nearest rock on the highest point. The view is amazing. The horizont is a curve!
From P. pecina the trail just follows the natural edge of the ridge, goes to the Zub rock. Just before the climb on the Zub there's a crossroad, left to right, unmarked but if someone doesn't want to climb to Zub there's a possibility to go around it, following the righthand trail (check out the Jaske Eko Trail on wikiloc to see how).
Though the climb on Zub makes you use both legs and hands it's not as rewarding from the vista point of view:) as is P. pecina. But...it's impressive to see where you were when you look at Plesivica mountain from afar. This Zub (Tooth) really looks up to it's name:)
From Zub we climbed to Plesivica summit following the trail criscrossed by foxes' and deers' tracks. This is probably "the worst" part because we just went up and down, up and down, four times before the final ascend on Plesivica.
No photos from the summit, the weather got from bad to worse, we just stamped the notebooks and went back down to Okic.
The easier trail going to Okic descends on the road between Kotari and Poljanica Okicka. Even if you miss the path covered in snow (sometimes there are no marks) just going down hill eventually will get you to the road. The road passes Poljanica Okicka, on the bend the trail goes straight into the woods and follows the forest road. At the lowest point we crossed the stream under the Okic, climbed the up the pasture and got our bellys full and clothes dry at Stef's mountain hut.
