Itinerary description
Named for its distinctive shape and originally home to a WWII-era radio station, Sugarloaf Mountain offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Qinnguata Kuussua (the Watson river) valley that stretches all the way from the Greenland Ice Sheet to Kangerlussuaq at the head of the fjord.
The easily identified trail initially follows an old 4x4 track but then narrows to foot-width. It is very steep and can be slippery.
It is possible to hike down the back side of the mountain to create a loop with the Sugarloaf Waterfall Trail, but there is no established trail and there are limited markings (the GPX track is indicated).
