During our stay in the beautiful city of Nuwara Eliya, we did not hesitate to visit the lovers' waterfall, one of the main attractions of the place. Lover's Leap Waterfall is one of those waterfalls that stays in your memory forever. Beautiful and located in a spectacular natural place!
START:
Thanks to our tuk tuk, with a few problems or another, we reached the upper part of Nuwara Eliya, from where we will begin the route to Lover's Leap Waterfall. We could still go up further, but it is not necessary to squeeze more out of our humble vehicle, so we will leave the tuk tuk here, less than a kilometer from the waterfall, already visible from here.
DESCRIPTION:
We began walking upwards, heading north and always with our sights set on Lover's Leap Waterfall. The street offers no loss and moves upward, causing us to demand a little more from our legs than necessary.
Once the paved road is finished, we reach a tea field that we will later visit. We turn left to continue towards the waterfall. We will return along the track that we see on the right.
We followed the route along a narrow and beautiful path, avoiding small bushes and low vegetation. The waterfall is visible, so we have no problem continuing on the right course.
After overcoming several meters of elevation gain, we reach the forest track that heads towards Lover's Leap Waterfall. It is possible that this track is the official route to reach the waterfall. Tremendous views towards Nuwara Eliya! We turn left, towards the nearby waterfall.
There's little left! A small detour will allow us to see the waterfall from two different points of view, panoramic views that we do not hesitate to enjoy! We also see an informational sign about Lover's Leap Waterfall. We continue!
After a little less than a kilometer, we arrived at Lover's Leap Waterfall, a spectacular waterfall, several meters high and located in a beautiful area! We take many photos and contemplate the beautiful waterfall from different points of view, coinciding with the visit of other visitors. We really enjoyed the lovers' jump!
After visiting and getting to know every corner that Lover's Leap Waterfall offers us, we continue the route, retracing the path towards the detour through which we reach the official forest trail.
Once on the forest track, instead of descending directly to the place where we had left the car, we continued along the path, in order to take the circular route and enjoy the views that the area offers us over Nuwara Eliya.
We continue to enjoy the route very much. The views towards the tea fields are sublime. The path loses height slightly and without difficulty, so perfect! Good ride!
We completed the section along the path and turned towards the tea field on our right, a field that we crossed enjoying the collection of tea leaves by the local people, who looked at us with surprised faces.
Crossing the tea field, we return to the familiar path, reaching the first detour we take towards Lover's Leap Waterfall. Here, we just have to turn onto the paved street and descend to the height of the tuk tuk.
In a few minutes, we arrived at the place where we had parked the tuk tuk, ending the route.
CONCLUSION:
Short route, very beautiful and without difficulty. Perfect for visiting Lover's Leap Waterfall, a waterfall worth visiting and highly recommended. Ideal for families or to enjoy a nice and quick walk. If you're passing through Nuwara Eliya, visit Lover's Leap Waterfall!
