Itinerary description

Close to the border with Russia hou will find the Nuortti trail. The trail leads through forrest, swamp (with walking boards) and boulder fields. You will find plenty of opportunity to camp. There are open wilderness huts, cabin's and fire places to put a tent on. In the river you will find trout and grayling but make sure you buy a permit and fishing season is open. The park website provide you with a lot of information so check it www.nationalparks.fi Before you leave make sure you check the weather forescast and carry a map of the area with you. The hike is not for people with a physical dissability or a poor condition because you can endanger youreself and others. Carry for 2 or 3 nights rations at least and make sure you got the right equipment to stay outdoors. Before you leave notify someone about the trail you are taking and how long you will be away. Cellphone reception is verry poor.
At last the trail is not 40km but rather 45/46km.

We had an amazing hike and realy loved all of it. In three days we only encounterd 5 people and they were fisherman so close to the river and not on the trails.
You must know we were there at the first of June and at soms stages we had to build our own bridges or take another way to cross the paths because of the swampy trail parts due to the melting wather. At the last point we had to cross the river, there was not a guideline installed but we managed to cross with only wet lege.
Enjoy your hike and stay save.
