Itinerary description
The Nire Valley is north of the Comeragh Mountains in County Waterford.
There are several well-signposted trails and the one chosen here is the Coumlara Loop as the day was very windy and so better to avoid the high ground.
To make it all the more interesting we extended the walk twice…. Once to see the Sgilloge Loughs and then again to the lakes known as the Boolas.
It was a five-hour hike with the usual breaks and great views.
