Itinerary description
If you have a tent, camper then the best place to start this hike is at "camper place Matera, Contrada Murgia Timone" where you can stay for the night and the offer transport service. So you only have to do this hike in one direction. beforehand make sure you arrange a pickup & time with the friendly owner.
We started this walk in the early evening, you need a small 2 hours to allow to visit several caves and walk around the area. visiting the city you'll need another 2 hours. and we finished it with a good meal in one of the many restaurants, our pickup was at 21h45 in the evening.
Make sure you have good shoes as some of the paths can be steep & it's on gravel/stones you walk.
Going down is easy, going up to the city requires a bit more effort, but it is worth it !
