On the way to the beautiful city of Hội An, we decided to make a stop to see the famous Marble Mountains (Ngũ Hành Sơn), located on the outskirts of Đà Nẵng. We arrived at the last minute, in order to avoid the intense heat, and despite this, we thoroughly enjoyed these beautiful elevations right on the sea and full of culture and history.

START:

We begin the route by entering through its main entrance, after paying the corresponding fee. There are two ways to access the upper part of Ngũ Hành Sơn, via an elevator (more expensive entrance) or on foot up a few stairs. Our option, on foot, since it wasn't going to be brutal wear and tear either.

DESCRIPTION:

We begin the route ascending to the upper part of Ngũ Hành Sơn (Marble Mountains). A notable first effort that we overcame in a few minutes.

Once up, the first thing we will visit will be the vicinity of the elevator, the starting point for most tourists. There is a small temple called Tháp Xá Lợi and very visible from the lower part.

We continued the visit by accessing the Chùa Linh Ứng temple, where they were practicing rituals and other prayers. An audio enlivened all these events, listenable from a few meters away...

We continue the route accessing one of the largest caves in Ngũ Hành Sơn: Động Tàng Chơn. It is a cave full of passages, holes and galleries. In all of them there are different marble statues and other religious artifacts. It is very pretty, and a young man makes sure you get to know each hiding place!

The next stop will be a spectacular viewpoint: Vọng Hải Đài. We accessed it by climbing a few stairs (not at all demanding) and we really enjoyed its views. The viewpoint has a beautiful panoramic view of the coast!

We continue the route accessing the second cave, Động Vân Thông, much smaller, but more difficult. You can visit its first galleries and return to the main path, or continue along the cave and go outside through its highest part. This exit is much more complex than the entrance and requires some skill to avoid slipping. There are narrow sections where we must help ourselves with our hands to continue.

After leaving the Động Vân Thông cave behind at its highest part, we arrive at a beautiful viewpoint. The second highest point on the mountain and from where we get a perfect view of the Marble Mountains, Da Nang and the coast. The top of the mountain where we are is also visible, allowing us to study the path to follow to get there... It is not obvious...

We continue the visit to the beautiful mountain by accessing one more cave: Động Linh Nham. This cave is smaller than the previous ones, but it is also worth visiting. Lots of religious artifacts and some marble statues.

We have already overcome one of the two sides of the mountain and we are on the other, ready to get to know it. It seems like this rock never ends, there are always things to see!

We are in a kind of recreational area, Khu Dừng Chân, where we can buy things, rest, etc. Right here, we find the detour that goes to the highest point of Ngũ Hành Sơn.

The comfortable path we have followed until now, without complications or loss, changes radically. A lot of stairs, with high steps, would indicate that we are facing the most demanding part of our visit to the Marble Mountains. And we are not wrong! We start climbing!

After several minutes of climbing the large steps, we reach the highest point of Ngũ Hành Sơn, Đỉnh Thượng Thai, from where we get an exceptional panoramic view! Spectacular views, all the Marble Mountains at our feet and a beautiful image of Đà Nẵng and its coast. We really enjoyed this place. The effort has been worth it!

We descend on our steps very carefully, since the steps are not very comfortable and are quite high, arriving again at Khu Dừng Chân. Here we will continue the route surrounding the area.

We continue the route visiting the Động Hoa Nghiêm cave, with the largest gallery. Several light windows, marble statues and other decoration to face the largest cavity of the mountain.

Turn to another cave, called Động Huyền Không. Another place of worship! It's incredible how many holes Ngũ Hành Sơn has!

Once the caves are finished, it's time for the temples that we still have to visit. There are 3 of them and they are found together: Chùa Tam Thai, Chùa Tam Tôn and Chùa Từ Tâm. They are very beautiful temples, well maintained and decorated with maximum detail.

After completing all the caves and temples of Ngũ Hành Sơn, we access the last point of interest, a beautiful viewpoint: Vọng Giang Đài. The views are beautiful again, so we continue enjoying the height at which we are! Several photos and we continue!

We have already completed the visit to Ngũ Hành Sơn and all that remains is to descend to the lower part, a path we take along a large staircase.

In a few minutes we are at the lower part of Ngũ Hành Sơn (Marble Mountains), ending the route.

CONCLUSION:

Mandatory stop if you are passing through Đà Nẵng or Hội An. Ngũ Hành Sơn (Marble Mountains) are beautiful mountains, full of history, temples, caves and viewpoints. Stunning views and a very entertaining tour! Highly recommended!
