Itinerary description
After a short distance on a 4x4 track, we drop into a barranco with a pretty level path that takes us to a dam after 3km or so. We need to cross the dam and you need a good head for heights for one 2 metre section. A bit further on we ascend from the barranco and, in three or four places, there is some very minor scrambling. Another section of 4x4 track, followed by an uphill section of path, takes us to a ridge overlooking the río Chillar valley with a very good path going along it, with some wonderful views. We follow this ridge for several kms and there are plenty of ups and downs, some fairly steep (although quite short), and also with some minor scree to deal with in places. Hiking poles would help. The rest of the route is straightforward.
