Itinerary description
The plan was to walk further, but we ran into a German couple who were camping on top of the mountain and we had quite a long breaking enjoying the stunning views.
Some practical information:
There are no signs and to be honest you don’t really need my route on Wikiloc either. Just follow these instructions:
1. The easiest way up is to follow the cable car up the crater. The dirt road underneath zigzags up but there are a few shortcuts.
2. Once you’re up on the crater you turn left. There appears to be a path but it soon disappears. Just follow ridge and enjoy the views. Some parts can be difficult to get across but in those cases, you’d better walk around it on the Tatvan side of the crater. That’s why I rated it difficult. Most parts were pretty straightforward.
We arranged a taxi for 400 TL (approx. €13) from Tatvan to Nemrut and back.
If we weren’r delayed by the nice people and our long break, we might even have made it down to the lake.

Our final stop for today
We lost quite some time when we met some German travellers on the top near the cablecars and enjoying the view from our “lunch” break spot.
