Itinerary description
Nehren: Römergräben and Vineyards
Parking along K22 in Nehren:
50,09047° N, 7,18269° O
An easy walk through the vineyards of Nehren and past Römergräben, an archeological site with two late-Roman burial chambers
From the parking along the K22, follow the sign “zum Moselsteig”
You’ll walk next to the main road, on a wide footpath, until you enter the outskirts of Nehren where you turn right, following the Moselsteig, through vineyards before entering the “centre” of Nehren.
Walk next to church, keep following the paved road until you hit a tree and information board and from there on follow the sign to Romergraber until next intersection where you go left, back on the Moselsteig.
Now you’re back on dirtroads, climbing gradually through vineyards.
Soon you’ll find yourself for a short time in the forest and not much later you’ll notice an uphill staircase-path which leads to Romergraben, an archeological site with two late-Roman burial chambers.
Well preserved/restored buildings plus a fine panoramic view over Nehren, Sennheim and the Mosel.
From above the archeological site you walk back to your car.
Enjoy!
