Itinerary description
A nice hike that starts and ends in villages that are part of Amatrice, heavily damaged by earthquakes in 2016, and that climbs to 1600m along a part of the Monti della Laga. Beautiful views of these mountains and also into the valley to the south. Near the end there is a short stretch of asfalt. Quiet. I counted six cars.
The trail higher up was not always visible. On the climb up, the red and white markings indicated which way to go. But once at 1500 metres, I could not find a specific trail, probably due to the abundant grasses. Mistakes were almost impossible, but it was not always easy going. My outdoor active app helped to indicate where the trail should be - if you follow my wikiloc route, you will also arrive at the clearly recognizable trail that starts the long descent.
