Itinerary description
Very enjoyable day hike. Out and back on the lesser used Naulu Trail. Starts over lava flow for approximately 2 miles, goes over now partially lava covered remains of the former Chain of Craters Road, enters forest area, then transitions to deep tropical rain forest. Passes abandoned Pulu factory, ends at rim of Napua Crater, with view of active Pu'u O'o volcano about 2 miles away across the Napau Crater.
