Itinerary description

In Hagen you have to leave your car at the paid parking. To leave the cycle way as soon as possible, you take a small path to the left just after crossing the road. The next kilometers are very quiet in the forest until you reach the cycle way again. Soon you reach the cliffs where you follow the path above the cliffs to the right. In the Gorge of the Pirates ("Piratenshlucht") you descend to the shore. You can follow the coast line under the cliffs to the north. Avoid high tide because there a few narrow stretches between the sea and the cliffs (see e.g. https://nl.tideschart.com/Germany/Mecklenburg--Vorpommern/Sassnitz/Weekly/ ). To avoid falling rocks, you should also avoid rainy or windy days. We walked there in the late afternoon and had to pass a flock ± 50 swans on the shore at a distance of ± 2 meters. Luckily they weren't aggressive and didn't react. There aren't much options to leave the shore and climb towards the path above the cliffs. Where we left the shore, it's not an official path, but it isn't difficult nor long. Soon you reach the official and more crowded path above the cliffs. Easy paths will guide you to your car.
