Itinerary description

Drive through Timi then Anarita and park across the ford at Nata. A steady climb uphill on a quiet tarmac road to Choletria, then walk back down tracks passing the deserted village of Choletria, and back to the car. Try the Sunday buffet at Pericles Tavern in Nata - it's amazing! Quite exposed so sunhat/sunscreen/water essential. A bit loose underfoot coming down so good walking shoes needed.

Approx timing:
00 mins Start from car. Follow tarmac road, up hill.
45 mins Reach T-junction with main road. Turn right.
60 mins Reach top of hill.
65 mins Arrive Choletria village.
75 mins Last house on right (grey). Turn right and head into open country.
80 mins Take right fork.
90 mins Reach t-junction with stop sign. Turn left.
105 mins Reach old Choletria buildings.
110 mins Take right fork, staying on the level.
115 mins Reach tarmac road. Turn left.
120 mins Back at car.

    2017 March
Thank you for this suggestion but sorry, it was a bit of a disappointment.
Maybe the roads have been worked on a lot since this was originally uploaded - as the 'ford at Nata' is now a significant bridge.
So the trip is now 3/4 on tarmac, 1/4 on a fairly major road. We're not too fond of that.
The Old Choletria part was fine, with good views and lots of flowers in spring.
The 'detour' up the paved part of the hill, if you see it, - up from Old Choletria - is to a fountain and picnic spot. So don't bother with investigating the track if you're not interested in those sorts of things. On the other hand, if you want a picnic....
Actual Nata deserves some investigation around the back streets and reading the information about how it has developed in the face of earthquakes.
Be aware that the Pericles tavern is not actually in Nata but well up the road on the route westwards.

When I last did the walk in the autumn of 2016, the roadworks were underway at the ford and it was obvious that a bridge was going to replace the ford. However the walk starts from across the ford/bridge, so it has not changed at all because of this work. You are right that the first part is on tarmac, the last bit of that on a fairly busy road, but the last part of it is still on tracks through open country and through the abandoned village. I think my timeline and description is still accurate. Not quite sure how you work it out as 3/4 tarmac and 1/4 busy road, making it 100% on roads. On my timeline minutes 75 to 115 are all on tracks through open country.

I meant 3/4 tarmac, of which one of the quarters busy road - since the busy road is tarmac.
I agree that it is neither here nor there as to whether it is a ford or a bridge. That was just to suggest that things might have changed since you last did it.
I wasn't complaining - and thank you for your efforts in putting up a good idea.
    It's just another person's perception.

Pretty but at least 2/3rd of the trail is on road one of which is fairly busy. Last part of the walk on tracks is nice.
