2/23/12 6:07 AM. Nameri National Park is a national park located in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas in the Sonitpur District of Assam, India, about 35 kilometres from Tezpur.
The trail is a flat for of very easy grade and is ideal for birding, there is a gaurd which accompanies the visitors. The only way to reach the national park from the Nameri Eco Campsite is via a dugout operated by locals. Nameri is one of the best place to see the Endangered White-winged Wood Duck, Orange-bellied Leafbird, Asian Barred Owlet, Pied Flycatcher, Common Merganser, Small Niltava, Streaked Spiderhunter, Wreathed,, Great Pied and Oriental Pied Hornbill, Dollarbird, Wedge-tailed Green-pigeon, Malayan giant squirrel, Blue-throated Barbet. This trail starts from the Eco Camp and includes the boat ride.
