Begin your trek at the Khmu minority village Ban Chalensouk, about 20 kilometres from Luang Namtha. The trek starts with a bit of a climb before levelling out. Have lunch in the mountains and if you’re lucky you may see wild pigs or birds. After lunch you will descend to the Khmu village of Ban Nalan on the bank of the Nam Ha River. Here you can sit around the campfire with the villagers, or help them prepare dinner. You can spend the night in either a villager’s home or in a specially built house for visitors.
