Throughout our stay in the beautiful city of Hội An, we seriously considered visiting the Hindu ruins of Mỹ Sơn. Being far from the city, we decided to book the early excursion from the same hotel where we stayed. We got up early, visited Mỹ Sơn and they fed us. A wonderful environment, very beautiful and in which we learned first-hand the history and origin of these temples and towers.
START:
We access Mỹ Sơn by paying the corresponding fee. Access is a large entrance, very suitable for tourists.
DESCRIPTION:
After passing the first few meters, we cross a bridge and get into the electric vehicle that will leave us at the beginning of the route. This vehicle will travel a kilometer and a half through a fantastic environment!
After getting off the electric vehicle, we will make our first stop at an information sign about Mỹ Sơn, ideal for finding your way and checking everything we will see. The circular walk begins right here.
The first part runs without any complications along a forest track. Access is comfortable and the surroundings are very beautiful.
While we chat with the guide who will accompany us throughout the tour, we find a curious fountain, although it is not advisable to drink water. The heat is intense, despite the time of day, so it is a good idea to be hydrated.
After more than 2 kilometers, we reach the vicinity of the different temples and towers that make up Mỹ Sơn. The first thing we will visit is the Performance Hall, a space with a stage and chairs where we can enjoy several performances of different Indian dances, all accompanied by live music. Spectacular!
After the show, we continue the route visiting the most typical temple of Mỹ Sơn. It is the most photographed and largest temple, as there are several buildings, columns, sculptures, etc. Several temples and several towers in this curious place!
We now continue close to a rest area, crossing a bridge towards the second area of temples.
A few minutes later we arrived at a new Performance Hall, now outdoors. A Hindu dance group is dancing, so we do not hesitate to stop and witness such art.
After the performances, we continue a little further, in a slight ascent, to reach the second Hindu temple, another very beautiful area where we continue receiving history and curiosities from our guide.
We follow the route along a very visible and uncomplicated path. We quickly reached the third temple, which is in very good condition. For us, without a doubt, it was the most beautiful temple. Next to it, one of the several tombs found around Mỹ Sơn.
We continue the journey along the same path and reach the height of a crater caused by one of the bombs that fell there during the last Vietnam War. It is amazing to see such a sinkhole on earth...
We soon arrived at the temple in worse condition, quite demolished. Even so, the area still has a certain charm!
We continue the visit to Mỹ Sơn along a slightly wider path, where we find a new information sign about the area.
The path is not difficult and enjoys beautiful views of the natural area where Mỹ Sơn is located. We cross a bridge to continue.
Arriving at the end of this path, we find the last temple that we will visit. It is on our right hand side and has no access, so we settle for seeing it from afar and photographing it.
Having visited all the temples and towers of Mỹ Sơn, we continue along the path crossing a new bridge. We are already very close to the end!
In a few minutes, after completing the described path, we arrived again at the place where the electric vehicle left us. Here, we just have to wait our turn to get back on it and go through the Mỹ Sơn entrance in reverse. Once the route is completed, we end the route.
CONCLUSION:
A small route, very easy to follow and ideal to do in a morning or afternoon. The Hindu dance shows are well worth it! Special care with the heat in the summer! A route that is best used with the wisdom of a local guide. Nice excursion to see the ruins and temples of Mỹ Sơn!
