Itinerary description

This is an easy and relatively short hiking trail, to be undertaken for the amazing view on top, rather than bragging rights.

Note: Ignore the glitch in the trail line for the first 0.8km, the true elevation of the starting point is around 200m.

-----

The starting spot is where you park your car. You can start further down the mountain, but there is no point since you'd be walking up an asphalt road. The trail proper start immediately after the parking, on the left, amid two private houses.

During the climb, you will mostly be on rocky terrain, but often shielded by woods. There will be numerous spots to take a pretty picture and rest.

As you near the top, the incline will decrease, but so will the woods, which are replaced by a terrain of scarce grassy/rocky ground, with much less trees. You will pass through numerous metal or wooden gates. You'll probably see a grazing flock of sheep or two.

The peak itself is on a barren rock, marred by the placement of antennae and various transmitters. Still, if you go around it, on each side you'll be greeted by a magnificent vista of the Kvarner Bay to the north, the surrounding islands to the south, and the Velebit mountain to the east (on land).

When we arrived it was late afternoon (around 19:00 hrs), and the sun was already setting. So, we decided to take the other way down, walking on a (mostly) paved road. Beware that during the midday, there is NO shade here - which means a 30 mins walks back with no shelter from the heat. Be sure to bring plenty of water and hats in that case.

On the same road down, there's a branching path leading to a restaurant/shelter that's open in the summer. So you can grab a meal or refreshing drink there, while still enjoying the great views.
