Itinerary description
It is situated 150 kilometres (93 mi) north of the city of Abbottabad in Balakot Tehsil of Mansehra District.
The peak is accessible via three routes in summers but all needs hours of trekking.
1. Balakot to Nadi Bangla and Kund Bangla route
2. Paras to Sharran forest route
3. Shinkiari to Mandagucha route
4. The Shinkiari to Manda Gucha route is the most accessible route to reach the peak
We followed the last route.
Reached Munda Gucha.
A small ride to the starting point of trek.
We had two options, either to trek the higher route or along the river.
For going upwards, I think the route along the river is the best. It's moderate height and very scenic.
Whereas the higher route requires a steep ascend in the start and twice on the way.
Waypoints
Munda Gacha
Scenic village of Munda Gacha. Your excursion starts from this village with sweet people. A jeep or hiace will take you to the trek starting point.
Both the routes meet here
From the water stream you can go up the hill for higher route. Or follow the road for a few steps to reach the bridge from where the lower route starts. I would recommend lower route which does not require that much hardship as the higher route does.
Start of the trek from the bridge
Your vehicle will drop you next to this fairy tale bridge. Water is shallow in the river underneath. Take a few pictures as it's too beautiful. This is the starting point of the lower route, along with the river. Higher route starts a few meter before it, where the water streams crosses the road.
Dor
It's a point where two streams meet and for Siran River. The point is called Dor. From here you can take the several routes to Khori. All routes are pretty much same. However some are more steep than other and don't have water springs. The one I followed here was tough one too. It's the last spot you can buy tea or snack.
Intersection - Go up from here
You have to start your steep ascend from here. Very hard to identify this spot as there is no landmark or special tree there.
