Itinerary description
This is the second of the 3 routes that the Mullerthal trail consist of.
Each of these three routes is circular and of around 37 Km in length. People usually take two days to walk each of them.
This website has information about the whole Mullerthal trail: route 2
The whole trail is pretty well marked with the red "M" marks all along the way.
This second route is easy as the other ones and it´s probably the best ones because of the areas you go through the rock formations.
Since it is circular you could start and end it in any spot along the way. This track starts in Berdorf, just outside the camping Martbusch which is just a couple of hundreds of meters to get to the trail.
You walk inside forests, rock formations, green fields and also across some small villages.
Very enjoyable and if you get to do only one of the routes, this is definitely the one that you have to do.
The highlights of this route are the narrow corridors formed by rock formations. You go through a few of them although there is one that is more dramatic than the others. It´s marked in the track as "Narrow pass (Deiwepetz)". Just before entering there is a post that says that it´s very narrow and you need a headlight. It is pretty easy and you don´t really need the headlight. I´m quite tall and wide and I just took my backpack off and walked a bit on the side. Quite enjoyable and as I said this is the highlight of the route.
A bit further there is another narrow pass, marked in the track as "Optional narrow pass (Adventure Kohlscheuer)". It looks very similar to the previous one but in this case this one is optional. I didn´t take it because I wanted to follow the normal track but you can take it since it just joins the normal one a bit further.
As of June 22nd 2019 there is still one detour in place. This track goes through the original trail although I have marked with waypoints the detour just in case you take it.
