Itinerary description
Mullaghmeen (258m) is the highest point of county Westmeath. Not much of a challenge but on a clear day the views are splendid. Also the surrounding very fine beech forest will guarantee you a enjoyable walk. Apart from Mullaghmeen top the walk visits a second slightly lower (240m) top which also offers fine views. The walks follows for a large part the white loop walk with some variations to take in the summits.
NOTE: After descending Mullagmeen the walk takes a nice shortcut over a hidden trail. After reaching the T junction at the end of the descent path you go right for a few metres. Then you go up left where you should discover this vague hidden trail.
NOTE: To reach the lower top you have to quit the main path just before reaching the Y-junction. Turn right through the forest (no path) until you reach the fence at the forest edge. You follow this fence all the way to its highest point. Climb over it to to reach the cairn. Retrace your steps for about 50m and notice a vague trail to the right. Descend this trail to the main path.

Ignore a turn right and after 200 meters the carpark access road is on your left (signposted Mullaghmeen Country).
