Itinerary description
Mullaghgarve
This is a stunning walk which to priests rock is easy, There is then a quite challenging climb up to blanket bog area and walk through this. There is no path as such. I did this during a prolonged dry period, if the ground was wet which it would be most of the time the trail would be very difficult. During this dry period it revealed its beauty. There was a greater area to cover but I decided it was time to return.
As I came but the lack of any visible markers in the landscape meant at times I went a little off where I thought I was going and found myself in great canyons in the bog. Sand martins were nesting in the banks which was very special. Their call rand out in what was otherwise a very quite landscape.
