Itinerary description
This walk is one of the most convenient ways to walk up mount Mulhacen, the highest mountain on the Iberian peninsula, as part of a circular walk. We took the bus from Capileira up to the Mirador de Trevelez (at 2700m) which is organized by the Tourist Office in Capileira (better reserve your places upfront - just google for bus capileira mulhacen for more info). We walked the route by first going in the direction of the Refugio Poqueira and climb Mulhacen from the steep side. If you feel comfortable going downhill on a quite steep slope, then it is less tiresome if you do the walk the other way round (with the additional advantage that you pass the Refugio - open all year - at the end of the trip).
