Itinerary description
Mt Taranaki Summit Route probably my favourite hike in the whole of New Zealand.
On a clear day the views stretch out in all directions as far as the eye can see.
It's a relentlessly steep climb the whole way, trekking poles would have been useful over the loose rock but I managed without.
As a little side note the orange doc markers are numbered and give you a good idea how much further you have to struggle before reaching the top.
