Super hike up and back to Yakushima's highest peak: Mt. Miyanoura, at 1936m altitude, with a well deserved little detour to Mt. Kuromidake.
The ascent begins at Yodogawa Mountain Trail Entrance, easily accessible by car or motorbike from the south of the island.
The initial section runs through a dense and beautiful forest of hundred-year-old cedars (some thousands of years old!!), with ups and downs to the Yodogawa hut and a beautiful bridge that crosses the river.
From there, I continue up to the River of Flowers, a wetland open to the valley with beautiful views and lots of flowers. A haven of peace where monkeys and yakushikas (deer endemic to the island) usually pass by to cool off. From here you can see the rock of the peak of the first turnoff (Kuromidake), but you can't see Miyanoura yet.
Once rested, the hardest path of ascent begins through small water ravines. I highly recommend the detour to Mt. Kuromidake. It is hard, but you can leave the heavy equipment at the intersection and go up lighter, in some sections with the help of ropes. The views will be a great reward, plus it is an ideal place to have lunch. From here you can already see our final destination.
Once rested and with a full stomach, the last stage begins up to Mt. Miyanoura. As tough as the climb up Mt. Kuromidake, and longer. First by water ravines and, finally, on the crest of the mountain range, by low bamboo forest (bush type), with ups and downs until the last hard ascent to the summit. The top must have beautiful views with clear skies, unfortunately I arrived with a mist that covered most of it.
At the top of the mountain there is also an opportunity to see monkeys and yakushikas.

Mundo trail!!!!
