Is it possible to find some maps about this trek? The 4900m pass is dangerous? What kind of température in july/august?

  • txf Sep 24, 2011

I'm not sure if you can find any maps, the pass itself is not dangerous at all nor it's steep, it's the elevation. July and August are perfect months to go, you probably don't see snow on the pass.

  • incrédule Sep 24, 2011

Do you think it's possible to follow the trek without map and without gps?
In the night, do you think a -5°C sleeping bag is ok?
Thank you, it seems a fantastik trek, i will come to china next year to do it

  • txf Sep 24, 2011

I strong recommend you to hire a local guide before heading off, although it seems easy to hike the trail as it's along the valley, you could still get lost especially when you cross the pass. Moreover, you never really know how your body reacts to the high elevation.

I would say -10 rated sleeping bag is a safer bet, it gets really cold during night even in Summer.

You do get absolutely spectacular view along the trek, enjoy your trip.

  • incrédule Sep 24, 2011

Thank you, i will follow your advice concerning the sleeping bag. As concern the guide I don't know because most of time i prefer to trek alone. But you're right, high elevation could be a problem. Maybe i will make several stops inside the trek so that my body adapt to the elevation.

  • incrédule Sep 25, 2011

In summer, will i meet lot of other trekkers or is there nobody?

  • txf Sep 25, 2011

You probably don't see many other hikers except during Chinese holidays, but you certainly will see some local shepherds.

Is it easy to find water? How many liters do you carry?

  • incrédule Oct 13, 2011

I have found maps, if you agree, we maybe could have a private conversation abour the trek

Do you guys think it is too cold to do it in the beginning of february?? And it is worth it at that moment?

  • txf Nov 8, 2012

Unless you are extremely experienced climber, I would not recommend you to do it in February. The snow would be too deep.

  • locutus3009 Jul 2, 2014

Thank you for your route. I will try to go through it with some modifications

  • BenRozon Jul 25, 2014

Quick question, how did you get out? Did you hire a van or is there a public bus?

  • txf Jul 25, 2014

We hired a van from local village, I can't remember how much paid, I think it was a few hundreds RMB.

  • BenRozon Jul 28, 2014

Thankyou so much. Do you have any detailed maps of the route? This is my first time hiking at such altitude so im a little nervous.

  • txf Jul 28, 2014

No, there isn't any map available, I would advise you either hire a local guide or download topo map to your GPS if you have one.
