Itinerary description
Requiring a car shuffle we started at Mt Maroon as that is a more enjoyable uphill than Mt May.
At the summit follow the southwest ridge until the cliff which you bypass to the left. We then dropped into the gorge with slippery rocks until we reached the fantastic slabby creek bed. This is followed to the Paddy’s Plains camp site.
Then it was a slog uphill with a few descents just to make you go up again. Some scrambling but nothing too tricky. There is a rough footpad generally following the ridge proper.
The descent down Mt May is steep with loose rock rubble and dirt.
Varied scenery and a different day out.
