Itinerary description

This is a very strenuous day hike. You can choose between the ‘New Army Pass’ and the ‘Old Army Pass’ to reach Mt Langley. The snow melts more quickly on the ‘New Army Pass’, and so it opens up earlier in the year. However, once you hike over the ‘New Army Pass’, you lose considerable elevation, and of course you have to make up this loss on your way back from the peak! The ‘Old Army Pass’ is more direct to Mt Langley, but it doesn’t open up until later in the hiking season.

There are also 2 approaches to the peak of Mt Langley. You better be prepared for some rock climbing if you use this approach. I don't recommend this approach. –There are cairn markers to help you find your way over the huge boulders, but you need to take your time, and you need to be careful! Most of the boulders are the size of compact cars. I turned around at 13,800 feet, when a beautiful snowfield stopped my progress. I have never seen snow make such a beautiful pattern of ‘mini snow spires’ before.

Also, on the return track, I lost my way briefly, but I found another trail that led to the trailhead.

If you want to hike Mt Langley, I recommend following the route posted by the wikiloc member, KevinR: http://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=719411 This route worked great on my second attempt to the summit.
