Itinerary description
Mt Ernest in South East Queensland
There are some very difficult rock scrambling points just before the summit on the West side and also some very steep loose rocky areas on the decent. A rope may have been handy, but not necessary if you are confident with rock scrambling. Unfortunately the views are not as good as those from the adjacent peaks of Mt Barney (East and West), but the climb is more challenging and if that is what you are after, then this is the one for you

Very nice, I have looked at that ridge a few times from Mt Barney and wondered if it was a viable ascent route.

Looking at some of the tracks you have walked I would say you will enjoy this one. Reasonable amount of "scrub bashing" and not too many tracks to follow, (which is nice at times). Good thing is that it is fairly hard to get lost. Just take lots of water as it is a long hike between watering holes
Enjoy
