Itinerary description
Starting from the 'car park' on Garden of Eden Rd, go around the gate and immediately turn left to find a trail ascending alongside a fence representing the NSW border. Keep the fence on your left through low scrub and sugar cane fields all the way until you arrive at a rock face. Skirt around to the right until you find a section to scramble up, leading to the summit of East Peak.
From the summit you will see West Peak which looks quite daunting, however by following the trail downwards towards it you will end up on the north side of the section connecting the peaks, with a final scramble up to the summit. The summit is large and grass-covered, and aside from some previous campers leaving eerie Blair Witch-style twig sculptures, makes for an excellent camp.
The next day's hike to Boyd's Butte was slower going. Continue back to East Peak and then back down the way you came up previously. Walk past the track you came up on your right to continue on a less-obvious ridge trail that gently, then increasingly steeply descends. White and pink tape marks the way down to the flat area of a saddle where the tape markers continue. The trail then begins to rise in a north-easterly direction as you climb Boyd's Butte. This time you are hugging the east side of a ridge before a last scramble up to the exposed summit.
