Itinerary description
Carpark of Sylvester’s lookout to base of mt Castle. Double hike time for return.
Hike to lookout, turn left and follow remote trail east. At the orange arrow continue east down mountain edge towards right. Careful to stay on track here, epic thorn bushes if you wander off. Reach first northern lookout, then follow ridge east. Two down-scrambles within first few minutes then a mix of hiking along ridge and hiking beside ridge.
Beauuuuuutiful views. Goomburra’s best hike and a hidden gem for SE Qld. Not for the beginners or those who struggle to scramble. A few points where a slip would be disastrous.
