Itinerary description
Steep uphill up MST, gradual switchbacks down the lake Powhatan connector to south ridge rd, then gradual uphill on hard times rd to complete the loop. Nice trails and forest service rd through mixed deciduous forest and pine forest. Springs and small streams every few miles. Plenty of mushrooms to identify, and berries. Watch out for acorns, walnuts and hickory nuts on MST, easy to slip if you land on one the wrong way.
