Itinerary description

The trail starts in Medjurecje, 40km north of Podgorica.
It's easy to spot the sign on the left but the turn is very sharp.
There's a meadow to park the car or even camp.
The trail is marked all the way long and ends at the beach (kupaliste). In summer time when the river is low it's possible to hike to Velje Duboko and all the way to Kapetanovo jezero.
Lush vegetation and still lots of water in late May made it quite a different experience to hiking it in summer or autumn. The Bijeli Nerini waterfalls were nothing short of magnificent, loud and powerful.
More than half way through is the Magic Forest with the Wishing gate where you can make a wish by throwing a stone into the river but be sure to get one before you reach it as there are none left around😬 The path to it leads left from the main trail. Most of the signs on the trail are missing😳
The part of the trail going through the rock (Mrtvacke grede) was drilled by the army in the 70s and is quite an amazing sight.
Unfortunately the bridge across the river to Mrtvo Duboko has been wrecked by a torrent so we had to return the same way, though it's possible to cross Danilo's bridge (the stone bridge) and follow the road back crossing the iron bridge at the very confluence of Mrtvica and Moraca rivers (after the last house, Vesko's, the path turns left through the forest so be sure not to miss it). But, even without the bridge it may be possible to cross on foot when the waters are low.
