Itinerary description

Steep looping trail that climbs Mount Tammany, the northern peak of the Delaware Water Gap. Moderate most of the time but with a couple steep rock scrambles on the initial climb up the Red Dot trail.

It’s a bit crowded even on light days. Fantastic views along the red dot trail,
and a couple small waterfalls on the blue trail toward the end.

This trail can be hiked in reverse (clockwise), but most people go red to blue.

One of several. The path is rocky but secure.

Just a little to the south of the trail is a rock scramble you can climb down, probably 50 feet of vertical. Great photo spot if you’ve got a good camera.

Red to blue

Done with the red dot trail, now to the blue blaze trail that runs the ridge line. There aren’t a ton of scenic vistas from here on, but the trail is smooth and easy after that climb.

It’s all downhill from here. Literally.

Counterclockwise direction of the trail means we came off the blue trail to the right. This is the view after turning around at the merger of the trails. Just below this point are the small waterfalls.

Another “turnaround” shot coming down the blue trail, which is on the right and the trail we used. The hiker on the left is on the Appalachian Trail. From here the trails are joined until the parking lot.
