Tough. Minutes from Kepuakan Camp, right after crossing Kepuakan River, it's a straight shot ascent. Basically, 90% ascents, 10% flats with added minor descents. And from Musang Camp onwards, the trail became even tougher. It became technical. Varying degrees of technical difficulties, from intricate network of tree roots, to a combination of tree roots and big, sharp and slippery boulders.
This combo continues on, and gradually turned to just big, sharp boulders, upon passing Rajah Camp. From here onwards, it's big boulders, all the way, inter-mixed with intricate network of bonsais. In-between Rajah Camp and Mount Tambuyukon's summit, sits the infamous Rock Garden, where, if you managed to reach this location, by 05:30, all that laborious hard work, will be paid off, with a clear view of a beautiful sunrise, provided that you went on, on a clear forecast. Here you get to see the surrounding mountains, sea of clouds, and of course, Sabah's shoreline.
The summit of Mount Tambuyukon is filled with high-growing bonsais, which meant that there's no view. But if you venture through those bonsais for a bit, you will be sated with the most gorgeous, clear view of Mount Kinabalu, and all of its glory. As I've said it before, this trail is particularly tough. You'll need to be prepared with not just years of hiking experience, but also technical know-how on clearing these technical challenges.

looks really tough
Honestly, any trail can be tough. What would made a difference, is our own mindset. For me, it's simple. You put yourself in this, and no one will help to bring you out, but your own self. That's my mantra🤣🤣🤣
