Itinerary description
This is a relatively easy hike on a very well maintained path and you need to go with a guide. The trail starts behind the monetary. I wasn't able to into the monestary as they were only allowing visitors from 9am to 11am.
The trail is a slow incline up past a hill with a little church on it. You will turn to the right around another mountain and then Mt Sainai will appear. Once you make it up to the mountain you will go through a small gorge and cone out at the base of the peak. From here there are 750 steps up to the top. You'll be met with amazing views of the area and Mt Catherine too.
There are many places to stop along the way so you can take your time. I opted to go up for sunset to avoid the hoards of tourists going for sunrise. It did get cold up the top and once the sun goes down so don't forget your warm gear.
The signs day that the hike is around 5kms each way from the monastery. I don't think it was recorded correctly on this app. I also forgot to end the recording too so this includes a trip back to the Fox Camp and Cleopatra Restaurant for dinner. I would recommend both places.

Hello Brad,
How much did the guide charge you?
Are there any other hikes nearby ?
Thanks.
Hey Patrick, I think I paid 450 Egyptian pounds for the guide. There was two of us so we split it. There's lots of other hikes in the area I stayed for 4 days in St Catherine. I've got the other ones I did in my Wikiloc page if you follow me and look at my hikes in Egypt.
Thank you for the information Brad
Hi Brad,
My wife and I hiked with a guide on 2 days hike from St Catherine village to Mount Sinai via Wadi El Farah route, then descended to Wadi Arbayeen and rested for the night in one of the gardens.
Next day we hiked up to Mount Catherine summit and descended back to the village vis the Red valley known as Wadi Lahmer.
Both trails are recorded in my wikiloc profile.
Our trip cost us all inclusive mountain times for $200 total for 2 persons.
Now 1 Usd is 30 Egp.
Thank you for all your help.
