It is one of the highest peaks in the Lake Tahoe area and overlooks Reno and the north shore of the lake. The start of the trail is at the pass at 2712m, on road 431 and goes up to 3275m. The out-and-back hike initially winds through woods and meadows and then becomes more vertical and rocky terrain as you reach the top. On a clear day you can see Reno Sparks, Carson City, the Tahoe Basin, and Boca and Stampede Reservoirs. You can even see Mount Lassen in Northern California.
