Itinerary description
A pleasant enough walk through the wood and along the foreshore of Cowan Creek.
I started at Mt Kuring-gai station and headed east to Hardwood Ave. The trailhead (Kuring-gai Track) is at the end of this road.
After 2.4km from the start of the trail you'll reach Cowan Creek, a descent of 170m (ignore the elevation changes in this upload - something strange happening with my GPS here).
I turned right and took a small detour to Apple Tree Picnic Area (1 km) - nothing much here apart from bathrooms and a cafe thats only open weekend.
Returning to the junction of Kuring-gai Track & Berowra Track, it's now a pleasant stroll following Cowan Creek foreshore. After 4.4 km, the trail will start heading up towards Berowra. It's another 2km and a 170m climb back up to the Berowra trail station.
If you need refuelling, there's a cafe (Wise Monkey Cafe), the Berowra RSL and a Subway just across the road.
It's one trail stop back to the start at Mt Kuring-gai station.
