Itinerary description
A quick walk around the rim of the Mt Franklin extinct volcano. It looks steeper/harder than it is - the path up is very reasonable.
You don't really need to follow my trail - you can't get lost if you just follow the path up and the road down and around. But the only signs are at the beginning/end, and once the trail up joins the road, it is bitumen the whole rest of the way, which is a bit disappointing. There also aren't many views and once you're on bitumen you're not really on the rim of the volcano anymore either.
Some of the trail is through European woodland vegetation. I enjoyed this a lot as it reminded me of all my lovely hikes in Europe. And pine needles always smell fantastic.
Enjoy!
