Itinerary description
With an organised tour - an expensive torture, but there’s no other way… apparently. Can’t get anywhere near the top of the volcano for safety reasons due to it’s activity and after few accidents in the crater area, involving people ignoring warnings. Loved the place, hated the experience. Prefer doing things on our own, or in much, much smaller group. Even the guide said this group was too big for his liking - about 40 people. Most had no idea what they’re up against - there was even a person who lost bottom ends of both hiking poles and haven’t even realised on a steep uphill!!! And we’re not talking just the tips - the whole bottom 20 inches of adjustable poles! We’ve come fully prepared and spent over an hour waiting for everybody else to hire shoes, socks, jacket and god knows what else. At least the guide was compassionate and knowledgeable, so we spent some time exchanging “tales from the mountains”. All in all, Teide was a much better experience.
