Itinerary description
From the Raven Lodge at Mount Washington, Mount Elma is the closest peak by “trail,” and it offers nice, albeit treed, views of the lakes in Paradise Meadows. By “trail”, the route includes heavily board-walked and wide improved trails all the way to Kooso Lake (4.6 kms), but then becomes a narrow, brush-encroached footpath for the last 1.6 kms. The route is over 6 kms each way for a total of 12.5 kms.
This narrow path is very steep in places, requiring careful foot placements to avoid slipping. Branches intrude across the path and there are logs to step over. Between the steepness and difficult footing, the last 1.6 kms—and its ~250m elevation gain—will take as long to cover as the first 4.6 kms.
This route was recorded on the return leg, and has waypoints and pictures of every trail intersection. You’ll need to read the elevation gain/loss in reverse, as a 322m gain and 15m loss.

While it's always good to be careful of drinking from any water source, this stream is generally fast-moving even in the dry summer months.
