Itinerary description
Dawang Shan peaks at 1546m and lies within the Wuyi mountain range. The closest city is Wuyishan (武夷山), Fujian province and the mountain is located within the same province.
Coordinates: 27.763651 N 118.216709 E
Wuyishan can be reached via rail and air. I took a taxi from the city at 7:30 and arrived at the mountain village Jinzhucun (金竹村) at around 9:00 and paid RMB150 for the ride. From there I walked about 3km to Yuantou (源头), where the actual trail way, which is an ancient stone path, starts. It takes about 2-3 hours to the summit. On the way up, you pass no further villages. After descending and leaving the stone path, you find a number of villages and roads, that connect back to Wuyishan, but no public transport and no Didi that would pick you upon request. I ended my hike at Mali (麻坜) and asked the same taxi driver to pick me up.
