Itinerary description
We started at 6:15 at our hostel with our tour. To our entry point it took a while and also the locals looked critically at us, some of them asked us if we going trekking: Important note: Never say that you wanna climbe on Mount Batur on your own, otherwise they will stopp you and get you an useless guide. Just lie and they will pass you. When leaving the road your safe for another few minutes. You will pass some nice fields where farmers do their work. They are very friendly. At some point u will come to another road where the tourist will hop in their cars. Here you are also confronted to some angry guides. Just go on. After the temple it's very simple to go on. The last part to the summit is a bit steep and sandy but not to difficult. When u reached the summit nearly no soul is there. Only a few guides and a monkey. The way down is easy and similar to the tourist route. A little note: leave later maybe at 7:15 from our Startpoint then all tours are gone you will not meet these guides.

Thanks for the information ,especially about the guides although I started about 10 am there was still some about and they don’t take no for an answer,it was very quiet on the mountain, it must be horrendous if you go up for the sunrise
Going to follow this tomorrow! We have a kid and a carrier, but he is getting a bit heavy. How good/bad is this trail for a sturdy stroller?
