Itinerary description
Artos mountain is located next to Van lake. Hiking to the top takes a couple of hours. The starting point is a local road junction (1900m). After two hours, you reach the place where herders graze sheep in the summer months. From this place, the real hiking begins. Depends on your stamina, you can reach the top in 2-4 hours. The terrain is pretty rough, with a lot of dust and rocks. Beware of the herder's dogs! They can be a real danger. The highest point of the mountain is 3.530m. The view from the top is magnificent! You can clearly see the mountains of Kurdistan, all Van lake, Van city, Suphan mountain from the opposite side.
