Itinerary description

This is a very informative trail with great panoramic views and description of the surroundings and species of both flora and fauna.
There are two maps which show different beginning of the trail - the newer one shows it at some point in the village, the older one - a couple of kms after Vasilikon winery. I decided to follow the old map, however started my recording somewhere mid-way. Thus the end point of the trail on my route is actually the beginning as well.
Minding the winery you can combine two pleasures - hiking and wine tasting or even lunch/dinner as the winery has a restaurant on site.
There are plenty of free range goats and sheep, so big part of the trial is coverd with their excrements, keep this in mind in case you can't stand such things.

This trail can be combined with Agiasma trial (https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/agiasma-kathikas-nature-trail-kathikas-87744918 ) as both are just 4 kms apart.

SEASON: most of the trail is exposed to the sun, so cool season is better time to explore. As well there are areas of wild orchids, thus beginning of spring should be the best time.

TERRAIN: concrete and chalk dusty car roads mostly, there are some red clay and rocky parts. Ascents and descents come in turns, generally from easy to moderate.

SIGNS: quite good direction signposting as well as boards with description of surrounding areas, apart from two places: (1) way to the cave/church - it gives only the direction from the main trail, no any further indication of the cave (thus I failed to find it); (2) road from point 10 to point 11 - there are a couple of direction signs after point 10 but they disappear abruptly and I again failed to find the right way (as indicated on the trail map), finally the road led me to already walked trail. The other road I tried to explore led me to no trail place, thus I eventually made a loop returning back on the walked part.
Those who find a way from point 10 to point 11 as indicated on the map, will get a prize from me :)).

KIDS: possible to walk with kids of all ages, just asses the kid's stamina.

Parking (officially marked) is just a few dozen meters before start on your left.
